Since June 2025, major cement and building materials companies have announced or completed dozens of acquisitions and divestments. This article selects transactions where we have reviewed the original announcement texts and where the transaction value or scale is clear, examining them broken down by "what business is being bought". To state the conclusion first: the transactions with the largest amounts are buying aggregates, building materials, and supplementary cementitious materials, not cement; but cement businesses are also being bought, at a scale of the same order of magnitude as some of them, primarily outside Western Europe.
The facts below are as of 28 October 2026, with sources listed at the end of the text. Categorisation and opinion sections are labelled separately.
Scope
This article is not an industry-wide inventory, nor does it provide the total number of transactions. Our public records cover companies including Heidelberg Materials, Holcim, CRH, Cemex, Titan, Vicat, Cementir, Molins, and Çimsa; Holcim has disclosed a particularly large number of transactions, so the sample is weighted towards it. For example, Holcim stated in its third-quarter 2026 results announcement that it had completed 11 transactions year-to-date, 10 of which were acquisitions, including 5 ready-mix concrete acquisitions [Source 15]. Below, only transactions with primary sources where the amount and status could be verified are listed; amounts are stated in the announced currencies without conversion.
